🌿 What’s Your Favorite Homesteading Skill That’s Not Chicken Related?

  • Hey everyone! 👋

While chickens are a big part of homesteading, there’s a whole world of skills that make the lifestyle even more fulfilling. Whether it’s preserving food, building things, or growing your own produce, homesteading is all about learning and doing.

For me, my favorite non-chicken skill is bread baking. 🍞 There’s something so satisfying about making fresh, homemade bread from scratch, especially when I use ingredients from my own land. Plus, nothing beats the smell of fresh sourdough coming out of the oven! 🤤

Some other awesome homesteading skills include:
🌱 Gardening – Growing your own fruits and vegetables for a steady food supply.
🔥 Woodworking – Building coops, barns, or even handmade furniture.
🥩 Food Preservation – Canning, fermenting, dehydrating—keeping food fresh all year long!
🛠️ DIY & Repairs – Fixing fences, setting up rainwater collection, making homemade feeders.
🧵 Sewing & Fiber Arts – Knitting, quilting, or making farm-friendly clothing.
