πŸ” What’s One Thing You Wish You Knew Before Getting Chickens?

  • Hey everyone! πŸ‘‹

Raising chickens is an amazing experience, but let’s be honest—there are definitely a few things we all wish we had known before getting started. Whether it’s unexpected challenges, funny surprises, or just things you had to learn the hard way, every chicken keeper has that one thing they wish they knew earlier.

For me, I didn’t realize how addictive chicken-keeping can be. I started with a “small” flock of six, thinking that was plenty. Now, I have over 20, and I keep finding excuses to add more! πŸ“πŸ₯ ("Chicken math" is real, and I was NOT prepared!)

I also wish I had planned my coop size better from the start. I built a cozy little setup for my original six hens, but within months, I was expanding. If I could go back, I’d build twice the size I thought I needed!

So, what’s your "I wish I knew that before I started" moment?

    • Was it predators being sneakier than expected? 🦊
    • Underestimating how much poop chickens create? πŸ’©
    • Realizing that hens can be picky eaters despite the "they eat anything" myth? 🍽️

Drop your biggest lesson below so new chicken keepers can learn from our mistakes! Bonus points if you share pictures of your before and after coop setups! πŸ“ΈπŸ‘‡
