Hey everyone! π
I thought it would be fun to kick things off with a "why we started raising chickens" thread! Whether you're a seasoned chicken keeper or just getting started, there's always an interesting story behind the decision to welcome a flock into your life.
For me, it all started when I wanted to become more self-sufficient and know exactly where my food was coming from. π³ I had always loved the idea of fresh eggs straight from my backyard, and after researching different breeds, I took the plunge and got my first six hens! π
At first, I was just excited about the eggs, but I quickly realized how much personality these birds have. My favorite hen, Daisy, follows me around like a puppy, and I never expected to enjoy just sitting outside and watching my flock do their thing. Now, I can’t imagine my backyard without them!
So, how about you? What made you decide to raise chickens? π₯π
- Was it for fresh eggs?
- Sustainability and self-sufficiency?
- Maybe you just love animals?
